Hi Rameesa!

I am Akshita, your pen pal. Hope you are doing well, all is good over here too. A basic introduction of me- I am in eleventh grade and am studying Humanities. My hobbies include writing poetry, reading, eating and sleeping, haha! I am very excited to exchange letters with you. It’s usually very difficult to engage in a conversation and make friends from another country but I think covid provided us with a boon too.

It was only yesterday that I marked the sixth month since I have been following Coke studio, Pakistan. I absolutely love their instrumentals and classical singing. It’s very difficult for me to choose any one singer but if I had to then I would most probably go with Momina Mustehsan. I like to play the harmonium too. What about you? What kind of music are you into and do you play any instruments?  Besides this, I am a huge fan of K-pop, K-drama and Anime. I would suggest you watch ‘Attack on Titan’ if you ever start watching anime! Through K-pop , I was able to make many friends, many of them are from Pakistan too. They helped me get a deeper insight towards your country and I am hoping that via these letters, we’ll be able to do that too.

I am a part of a heritage programme, and we visit a lot of forts and mosques to study the architecture and cultural heritage of that area. After researching on the internet, I found some amazing forts and places which I would definitely love to visit if I ever go to Pakistan. Derawar Fort and the Wazir Khan mosque are the top two in my list. Have you visited these sites personally? If yes, then I would love to hear your personal experience. If not, then which places would you recommend? I know, for sure that If I were to suggest you some monuments in India, then I’d say The Qutub complex, The sun temple, The Taj mahal and The Agra fort. These places are mesmerising. Also, if you ever do visit India, then contact me, I’ll take you to amazing places for experiencing the local cuisine of Delhi, India. The aaloo ka parathas, different variations of momos, butter chicken masala and lassi are really famous here.

Moving away from the exciting part and settling into the emotional part, I would just like to say that instead of judging each other on the basis of what our government does, we should start talking to the citizens. It’s only via diplomacy and talking to other people from other cultures would we be able to understand each other better. For example, right now I am writing this letter to you in hopes of being your friend in the future and in hopes of improving the relation between our country. It all starts with one tiny step which leads to hundreds and millions other steps to follow. So, I aim to be that one pair of steps alongside you.

I hope you enjoyed reading my experience, Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,

Akshita Kumar
