Celebrating a Love that has room for everyone

The LGBTQIA+ community has been continuously marginalized in education, the workforce and within societies. They come under the targetted groups, have been faced with restrictions and denied basic human rights. Rated amongst the vulnerable in terms of safety, history has already shown us that silencing the voices of the few or those not falling into the perceived norms of society would not protect them from discrimination. Rather it is through listening, acceptance and tolerance that we can breed safer ground for connected communities. The LQBTQ+ community is often left out owning to ‘inadequate’ numbers to breach a demographic beyond a minority, yet recent shifts in global and personal acceptance, tolerance and advocacy have shown the extent to which equal support and treatment should not exclude them. Where strides have been made with the aid of online platforms and movements, there is much to be done in legislation- and further in the mindset of the people- for a more open, fair and inclusive space for all.

Beyond the Borders: Love is Love is a journalism campaign aimed to bring light to some of the issues and narratives from the LQGBTQ+ community. These activists, storytellers, citizens and organizations are passionately advocating for these concerns while most of those in power aren’t. These are their stories, their views and their motivations for a brighter future.
